The hour of silence and confusion leading up to Bruce Springsteen's 2 song performance and five minute commentary sucked for us impatient types. But I managed to stick around and it was well worth it. Even though Sprinsteen's set was so short: Promise Land & (bear w/me here Bossheads) Never Surrender (not Corey Hart) it was good- even though I can't stand Dylan. Despite being obviously exhausted, Kerry was inspiring and funny in a corny and embarassing dad kind of way. Really, a good night-except for the mother fucker who tried to run over my mom.

Yeah, it was a great event. Bruce's speech was more eloquent than all of the speakers that came before him, but Kerry also had a great speech too.

Did you have to walk through the Bush protesters? We did, and they were yelling at us so heavily, calling us baby killers, faggots, you name it.

They must be as scared as hell. I read today in the paper that you can't wear any campaign t-shirts, caps, etc (either party, of course)...when you go to vote. Something about nothing like this within 100 ft. of the door.

Does that include parking stickers, I wonder.......

Just pretty unbelievable.

the protesters were relatively docile as i walked by. i guess i lucked out.

at one point, they started chanting "U.S.A." you know, because bush's opposition is from guam.

what the hell...

Couldn't have said it better.

And yes, I had to walk through the protesters, too. They were antagonistic and immature at best.

Well, it's logical that the supporters would be hate mongers just like the president.

Y'know, I don't want to make a blind generalization here, but it does seem like those who fervently support Bush are angry people.

One of my bosses made a snide comment/threat to my job because of the Kerry sticker on my car. And just the other day, my girlfriend and I were on our front porch when some dudes in a pickup drove by my house, screaming: "You faggots are gonna lose! Kerry's a fag!"

Bush supporters almost always have to throw in a personal attack or bigotted statement.

I'm no shrink, but these people are angry and I feel sorry for them.

that is really funny. i would have spilled my beer.

i think that the generalizations made about Bush supporters in this thread are just as absurd as the comments made by the Bush supporters you have interacted with. i do not think the majority of Bush supporters are evil, they just don't get it.

On my way to work every morning I pass by a house that has a number of Bush/Chenny signs in the yard. The homeowner took 2 big sheets of wood and wrote messages on them, something "Bush says what he means and means what he says. Kerry is a flip-flopper." Two days ago on my way to work, the signs had been defaced and ruined. The homeowner had put up another sign that said "See what Kerry voters have done? What's next, will they burn my flag?" So, I think the hostility works both ways.

damn right sleep. It's really sad to see how the right wing's push for anti-intellectualism has really worked... especially for certain types of college kids on this campus.

a house down the street had a very LARGE bush/cheney sign in their yard. someone painted swastikas over it. pretty pathetic.

i remember when i lived in the italian village over a year ago, my neighbors kept having their support bush and the troops sign stolen. i remember watching the guy remove the sign from their yard one day and thinking what an immature little asshole he looked like.

if someone f'd with my kerry/edwards sign i would be upset. it's private property.

All of it is so damn childish.

I cannot remember any political race being so hostile, ever.

You are one, aren't cha.....

FWIW, there were many calls at the paper from different places in town.
The office will figure it out.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it unless you are a carrier yourself.

Dig?

I had the displeasure of standing near the (juvenile) protesters for quite awhile... screaming shit like "fag" and "baby killers" just proves how bad we need Bush out of office.
