A friend of mine was doing some research and found a new Hummer ad in Cigar Afficianado magazine.

Here's the headline for the ad:

"Excessive.
In a Rome at the height of its power sort of way."

That's truly sick. It makes me want to puke.

I had an '80 Toyotal Celica that got rearended by a Mercedes G wagon once. The Toyota fared better than the Mercedes. Long live those tanks, indeed! I hate Hummers but then again I hate all SUVs. At least I'm consistent.

oh, Macs! another whole foreign world to me. i just acquired a G3. it seems pretty cool. i just gotta figure out how to make it work now. i'm looking to pick up some kind of music programs so i can make up some solo stuff. i can't wait. but i'm completely Mac-dumb.

I guess the obvious comparison would be:

the height of Rome where inbreeding, debauchery, blood-sports, and lead poisoning were routine! You too can be just like the Emperors of old as you assassinate everything around you in a mad paranoid rush! Consume, consume, consume, but don't forget the Fat Blockers (our version of the vomitorium) so you don't get fat from all the food you waste!

Our current society was based on Roman ideals and it look like those same ideals will be what brings it down. Yay! Where are the invading hordes of barbarians when you need 'em?
