OK, this might be kind of cheesy, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously around here.
We have one single, solitary – some might say, highly sought-after - spot left for this year’s Megacity Music Marathon on June 9th at Woodland’s Tavern and it’s the opening slot on the Main Outdoor Stage.
Just to add a little extra fun and intrigue to this year’s fest we have decided to “award” this slot to the artist and/or band that writes, records and submits the Megacity Music Marathon “jingle” that we deem most, um, enjoyable.
The rules for this jingle, song, commercial, whatever you wanna call it are as follows:
We’re not worried about high-fidelity as much as we’re looking for something memorable and original. Lots of artistic leeway here, however the tune should last no more than 45 seconds and it should include the word “Megacity” at least one time in it. You can go painstakingly informative with meticulous event details or you can just “wing it” and make a tune that you think sounds cool – we can’t say that we know exactly what we are looking for, but as they say, we’ll know it when we hear it.
Post your entry to
http://bandcamp.com, then make a Twitter tweet about it (I’ve always wanted to say that!) – say something about Megacity and include a link to your song, obviously. Also, make sure you include both of the hashtags #pbrmmm and #jinglejangle so that we’ll see/hear it. That last part is very important.
If you don’t do Twitter then just email the Bandcamp link to bmiller AT pabst DOT com – but let it be known that doing all that stuff in the prior paragraph is the preferred method of delivery and just might be the way we break a tie.
Deadline is 5PM EST on Friday, May 25th. We’ll announce the winner on May 26th via this thread and the @PBRcolumbus Twitter handle.
