Alive's annual Bands to Watch show will be Saturday, January 22 at Skully's. Read the Jan. 20 issue to find out who's playing. As always, this show is FREE.

We haven't done shit. But what I'm really concerned with is, why the fuck do we have to do with anything?

Remember when Columbus' free newspapers were useful for something other than lining the gerbil cage?

So I'm assuming (based on Wes' entry) that it will be a bunch of Hip-Hop Dudes (and a couple of awful bands) To Watch?

Word on the street is no Ferals (the only band formed in the last six months worth leaving the house for) and no Ex-Whites.

Ah, if only The Informed were in charge.

I'm all for an all Hip-Hop list. At least that's admitting there's not much (new) rock around these days.

Nothing wrong with The Town Monster or The Wet Darlings.

And since when has this list ever actually featured the best or most interesting bands in Columbus? When has any local paper ever done that? Isn't that impossible anyway? I always took it as a feature on bands that were poised to "do something," beyond play another local charity show.

TOP had ZAS on their cover.

We hashed out the picks as a staff this year, so it's definitely not just "Chris DeVille's bands to watch." I was pushing for three hip-hop picks, but in the end I'm satisfied with how that scene is represented here.

I'm glad you cleared that up.

I'd bet it was this guy who picked the Wet Darlings.

Chris, besides yourself how many of the Alive staff actually attend local shows?
