First post on this board so I'll jump in with feet first.

In no particular order -

Records -
Avey Tare – Down There
White Hills - White Hills
Dungen - Skit I Allt
High On Fire – Snakes of the Divine
Fursaxa - Mycorrhizae Realm
Gnod / Whitle Hills - Gnod Drop Out With White Hills II
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & The Cairo Gang - Wonder Show of The World
MV + EE - Liberty Rose
MV + EE - Live Road
MV + EE - Hick Smoke
MV + EE - Home Comfort
Emeralds - Does It Look Like I'm Here
Tame Impala – Innerspeaker
The Fall - Your Future, Our Clutter
Tobin Sprout –The Bluebirds Of Happiness Tried To Land On My Shoulder

Singles –
MV + EE – “Sweetheart of the Nascar”/ "Crow Jane Variations"
Panda Bear – “Tomboy” / “Slow Motion”

Video -
Animal Collective – ODDSAC

Shows of the year (so far) –
Spiritualized at Radio City Music Hall performing Ladies & Gents
ATP NY
GbV at the Paradise

=====================

OK, so there is a heavy MV + EE presence on this list but I was seriously blown away by everything they put out in 2010. They are on quite a run, imo, and the single is fantastic if you're looking to hear something by them. There are still some 2010 records I'd like to hear (Sun City Girls, Kayne, Black Keys) but at this time I can't imagine any major changes.

Really wish I had been there for that.

Annyway, in no particular order

1. Thrushes - Sun Come Undone

2. Autolux - Transit Transit (kind of disappointed by this album, considering it took, what, four years for this to come out after Future Perfect....but it's still better than most anything else)

3. The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream

4. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles II (say what you want, this kicks ass. Much better than CC I. They are swinging around my away. That "Not In Love" song with Robert Smeeth is killer)

5. Screen Vinyl Image - Ice Station (played with these guys at the Kalamashoegazer Festival in, guess where, and they were basically the only band that was awesome. Gravewave. )

6. Night Gallery - Constant Struggle

7. Amusement Parks on Fire - Road Eyes (if you like Airiel you'll like them. Same guitars, better vocals)

8. Interpol - Interpol (getting older...but getting skinnier and gathering more angst. Fuck yeah. The day these guys release their "I'm tired and fat" album will be the day Thom Yorke does a duet with Bono. Which. Will. Be. Never. Fuck music critics who say they want a "mature" album from Interpol, whatever the hell that means. Critics are reviewing this album like they would a goddamn piece of literature)

9. Ceremony - Rocket Fire (this actually may be my favorite album of the year. No, it is. Gorgeous.)

10. The Rosen Association - The Rosen Association

11. Deerhunter - Halycon Dream

12. Beach House - Teen Dream

*11 and 12 were edited because I totally forgot about those albums. How? Hmmm. Maybe because Interpol is so awesome? Haha. Maybe.

Best live show: A Place to Bury Strangers at Midpoint Festival Contemporary Arts Stage September 23rd. The power went out three times in the middle of the set, assholes thought it would be great to wave their hands in front of the very low-set projector, and beer was $7 for a Stella. Despite all of that, it was mindblowing. They closed with "Ocean," which has got to be one of the best closing songs ever by any band. In the right venue, these guys could be louder than MBV.

I don't know what my #1 favorite album of the year was but without a doubt, Earwig - Gibson under Mountain was my most listened to disc of the year.

1. Grinderman 2 (this one is number 1, where it belongs. the rest of this list is in no special order)
2. High On Fire - Snake For The Divine
3. Amanda Palmer Plays The Songs of Radiohead
4. The Black Keys - Brothers
5. Monster Magnet- Mastermind (no it is not Spine of God awesome, but it sure beats most of the drivel called rock music out right now, and it sure is a hell of a lot better than their last 3 releases)
6. Melvins- The Bride Screamed Murder
7. Devo- Something For Everybody (Like Monster Magnet, not their best but better than most of the shit coming out)

That is all I can muster up right now.

The following are the best records I remember hearing in 2010 that I can recall off of the top of my head and that I am pretty sure were actually released in 2010. I've got 2011 to steal or borrow what I missed in 2010, although, I do not want your copies of LCD Sound System(this is not happening), Vampire Weekend (maybe an afternoon, but, certainly not an entire weekend) or John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band (a.k.a., Arcade Fire). Maybe next year.

Neil Young, Le Noise
Spoon, Transference
Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,
The Unholy Two, Skum of the Earth
Ghost Shirt, (was Domestique released this year?)
We All Got Out of The Army, Robert Pollard
Moses on a Snail, Robert Pollard
Our Cubehouse Still Rocks, Boston Spaceships
Deerhunter, Halcyon Digest
Broken Bells, The Ghost Inside

edit:

The Black Owls', June '71
Titus Andronicus, The Monitor

edit 2:

forgot this one, too!: Tobin Sprout –The Bluebirds Of Happiness Tried To Land On My Shoulder

***I did not get the Guinea Worms' LP or the Barbie Dream house for Christmas, again.
