Columbus=Festival City. There has been some festival almost every single weekend this summer. Same bands. Same booths. Too much.

To their credit, cdr bbq had an interesting line up.

music festival fail.

Nobody is Independent. This festival is a lie.

Jesus. I didn't realize that you need permission to have an opinion if coydog's band is playing. But, I get it. He hangs out at the treehouse, so he is used to watching the same five drinking buddies...er I mean bands play on a rotating basis, and likes it that way.

I wasn't even referring to this line-up, necessarily. Just the over-saturation and over-exposure in general.

By my count, not even cheating and looking at Alive, I can count 6 festivals this weekend, and that is not counting the football game. Seems like a lot to me. Last time I checked, the idea is for these things to make some $$, right? Whether it is for a "good cause"TM, or just gas money for bands, taking a loss sucks. Seems that Columbus is spreading it out too thin, using the same bands over, and over, the same booths over and over, same food over and over. It is getting old.

For example... I like Moon High. I liked them when I saw them play Nelsonville this year. I liked them when I saw them play Comfest this year. Not feeling super motivated to go hear them play another festival. Added bonus: this time on pavement. No thank you.

I think it is not so great for bands either, really. Very few of these things actually pay the bands. You can put a pretty ribbon around the tokens or tickets if you want to, but it is still just playing for beer and EXPO$URE!!!

Out of the six "festivals" going on this weekend, if I were going to go to something, I would go to laches' thing... at least there are some bands I don't know on the bill, and I am pretty sure they won't ever get booked at the treehouse.

You got me, rabbit, I can never be found at Rumba, Kobo, Skully's, Ravari or any of the festivals about town. And you'll certainly never see me standing at the front of the stage having a good time listening to any number of the bands I love from Columbus. Nope it's just the Treehouse and the same five bands for me.

Lame is the fact you think the same five bands play the same festivals. I don't see it. I'm sure there's some overlap but I'm excited to see Moon High, the Compressions, Kopaz, Super Desserts, and Flotation Walls among others. It would take me a month of seeing shows to be able to catch all these bands. And for the record (and I'm sure you remember cause we talked about it) I thought it was lame when everyone was bagging on your beloved festival for having a weak lineup. I went to that festival too, and had a blast.

but go ahead be an asshole and rip on me with 3yr old material about hanging at the Treehouse but the fact is that Kyle Sowash brings some pretty good bands to town.

I kind of relate to both points of view. I have a festival in my pants just about every day and although much to my surprise I haven't got tired of it yet you can certainly make a valid argument that I have over-saturated myself.
