Ah yes. Gotta wonder what Sawyer's up to right now. I suspect he won't side with Smokey in the end. I think that's what the list of names (of people that Michael had to bring in exchange for Walt) meant. Kate wasn't invited then either, was she? Sayid was expressly uninvited.

I wonder how dogan being alive/dead effects smokey being able to enter the temple. That would seem to indicated that he has some sort of mystic power (probably imbued by jacob if true).

Maybe he was connected to the ash barriers somehow. They never really explain who makes the powder, how it works, etc.

I feel like they are wasting valuable question answering time by showing so much of the flash sideways. Corggirl has to be onto something with that theory. It's the only way that much flash sideways storyline even makes sense.

I woke up Tuesday knowing that later that evening that I was going to watch Lost. I went to work still looking forward to watching Lost. I was at work and I went to a 1:00 meeting (scheduled for Wednesday) and wondered why I was the only person there. After a few minutes, I realized it was actually Tuesday.

Has Lost moving to Tuesday night caused anyone else to experience mind time travel?

I haven't seen that one.

Is there anything else on network commercial television worth watching? The car commercials showing folks kicking up the dust in pure natural environments is enough to make me want to kick the effing television in the face..

I'm barely able to be excited about lost anymore.

Between the library and public television, there is no way i'll ever need a dvr..

That's what I used to say before I got one. Fast forwarding commercials at 3X speed is super awesome.

From Doc Jensen at Entertainment Weekly:

His [Fake Locke] m.o. is now clear: What if I told you could have your heart's desire? It's hard not to hear Fake Locke's enticements and not wonder if what he's offering the castaways is a psychic ticket to Sidewaysville, that if they do what he asks he'll transfer their minds/souls into the bodies of their parallel world doppelgangers.

Someone online also said they thought the previous lives the Losties led were if they followed their destinies, Sideways World is if they followed free will.

I like what me and Doc Jensen got going.

okay. but can you do it while your penis isn't erect, while tearing up the countryside in your new sport tourer with a cheeseburger in your greedy mitts while your period isn't happening anymore and something you have to see is on next?

okay, some things that bother me:

1. for hundreds (thousands?) of years Jacob has been searching for the right "candidate" to replace him, but if he never brought anybody to the island, there would have never been anyone there to kill him.

2. It took: the black rock, the science expedition, dharma, the purge, the crash, jughead, etc. etc. for Flocke to convince somebody to kill Jacob. In two minutes he convinces Sayid to kill two people and convince half of the temple people that they need to become his followers.

As DeadLocke pointed out, what you should really wonder is if the island would need protecting if people weren't brought there. Would people show up on their own?

There's probably more to his plan than just killing Jacob. It may not have been enough to convince any random person to kill him at a random time, and even it were enough, it may not have been possible to get a killer close enough to do it without a long con.

Edit: also, that "two minutes" was after Sayid had been infected and betrayed repeatedly.

i guess my unstated point was a general unhappiness about the direction the show has decided to go. i'm having a hard time buying (or caring?) that this is what the events in the past seasons has all been leading up to.

i'm in the camp of folks who don't really care too much for the whole Jacob vs. Flocke story. In terms of wanting "answers," that kind of "big picture"/spiritual stuff doesn't interest me as much as the sci-fi stuff and little details we used to get in seasons past.

we'll see what happens. i'm just having a hard time feeling any connection to the characters and giving a crap what happens to anyone this season.

Ah. Point taken. Ultimately, though, what sort of answers would satisfy that kind of build-up? My favorite part of the series as a whole is the sense that they begin with an extreme close-up of the details and pan outward while the apparent causes and effects change from nonsensical to mystical to scientific and back. Each season has revealed a new outer layer. Perhaps, we'll fnd that Jacob and UnLocke answer to something else. I think the "answer" will be what exactly it means to "protect" the island.

I thought he couldn't go gallivanting around the island convincing people to help him with his plan because Jacob had him trapped. I thought that’s what all be business with the ash circles and whatnot was about. We know he was trapped in the cabin for a while right? I’m assuming Claire is the one who set him free. Remember when Locke went to the cabin and she was there with Christian?

yeah, see to me that just points out another problem. there's the ash circle around the cabin, which we know flocke can't penetrate... which means that someone else must've been in the cabin. smoke monster was all over the island... it couldn't have been trapped. the ash must've been keeping him out of the cabin.
