The CDRSCY1! Selection for August is Cheater Slicks - Erotic Woman b/w Can't You Hear (My Heartbeat)



The Cheater Slicks have been around for 20 years, have released 13 LP's and 10 or 12 singles and have been directly or indirectly responsible for some of the best things that have happened in underground rock and roll in the last two decades, maybe ever. This year, they released the fantastic, all improv, instrumental LP Bats In Dead Trees, a record that proves, again, these guys can do about anything and it will be great. This single is a return to the traditional Slicks form. The A Side is a hilarious Dana Hatch penned punker called Erotic Woman. The B-Side is Tom Shannon fronting the band on Can't You Hear (My Heartbeat) by obscure-o Garage band the Outcry. Both songs were recorded exclusively on mics and gear from the 50's and 60's at Columbus, OH's historic Mus-i-col recording. It's a real honor for us to present this record.

The Little Claw record ran late, so Option 1 subscribers will be getting it with the Slicks record. Both will ship on Friday or Saturday. Sorry for the delay on the July Rec.

Hey Dudes,

The Sept records for year 1 got delayed because of a label printing mixup. We've got 'em in hand now and we're putting 'em in sleeves this weekend. Most likely the pickup for the last month of year 1 and the first month of year 2 will be at used kids next weekend. We will keep you posted.

I got the PHS double 7" yesterday. Unbelievable. This is amazing. Well worth the wait.

I think it's the best thing the band has ever done.....looking forward to the future. This is not lo-fi. There's a Blind Melon cover.

Any word on the February disc/pickup date/location?

What about April? I need to set my biological clock because I keep missing this shit.

Not yet, the plant is running behind due to the weather and we're running behind due to the LP's we put out this month and last. Everyone is about caught up though. Should get the announcement up real soon.

I didn't know Americans still worked hard until I saw the activity at CDR's studio. If Sandwi(T)ch is lucky enough to make a second lp it will be a paean to CDR volunteers and interns.
