We make so much money off record sales in Italy that we often forget to ask about money at the end of the night. No one let Italy know that we suck, yet.

I think there's an important thing being dismissed here (maybe - I admit I started skimming a lot of this shit). One nice thing about no cover is that people are more likely to check out a band they have not heard yet. Sure, I'll pay $5+ to see a band I love, but will I pay $5 to see a band I've never heard of? Doubt it. I do sometimes, but most people don't. And I have to say, I'm seen some killer bands/musicians on a whim walking into some free show, and usually ended up buying a disc instead, therefore giving them more than the door cover would have been.
