I may be the only person on the planet who loves this band, and most wouldn't even know they got back together and this is the second album of their 'comeback'. (the first one was embarassingly dreadful)

Shit man...this one is great. They sound like that young hungry band that has something prove again. While nothing has the...ahem...personality of "Cult of Personality", they more than triple the agression on a few tracks.

Vernon Reid is pretty wicked and back from mind-numbing jazz experiments to some heavy-as-shit rockin' out, and while some of it does sound a bit dated, they don't fail to bring it.

I don't love Living Colour but, of course, they WERE part of the late '80s hard rock explosion that I'm still so fond of so I did own the first two cassettes. Listened to the new one and it sounds like classic Living Colour. I think track 10 was the heavy one and maybe my favorite. The one where they threw in some of the "Cha Cha Slide" lyrics was just a tad bit lame ("Now move to the left ... move to the right ...").

A nice effort, a nice "comeback". I remember they played at the LC a few years ago and everywhere I turned I saw a stack of free tickets but I didn't manage to actually make it to the show. I'd go see them if the came to Little Brothers ;)

Bonus story: They may have been one of the last bands I met at an in-store signing at Camelot in Westgate Mall (BAVox, can I get a 'hell yeah'?). I was with my girlfriend and I think they were hitting on her. One of the guys (can't remember which .... hell, this was 1989!) asked her name and then made up a song, "Jenny Jenny, you're like a lucky penny". I took photos on my Disc camera :) but never got them developed :(

hell yeah, and
I do remember that day at camelot, as it was the day some kid from my grade school decided to take advantage of the large crowd assembled to see L.C. and rip off about 70 cassette singles. He then promptly traded those singles for chocolate milk and other assorted goodies at lunch the next day. sweet, sweet memories
