1) i probably wouldn't have moved to columbus if you hadn't been here.

p.s.: if anyone has 3 ADAT machines or a DAT deck, i have pre-Baby Inertia (sans gerken!) recordings that i did for a class project in college. those tapes are probably fucked by now, but i wouldn't mind trying to salvage them. sean's been trying to get me to hand over those "embarrassing" documents for a while now...

Miranda Sound is responsible for:

a.) me not going crazy spending my college years in Athens (instead of sitting around, not drinking, in my apartment, I would drive up and go to a show - and still not drink, but at least there was cool fucking music)

d.) me meeting Mr. Duffy
e.) many friendships
f.) me marrying Mr. Duffy (quite literally)

us lost revival folks are really looking forward to playing with them miranda sound peoples. this will be a really fun night.

I just checked the Miranda Sound website today and got excited to see tour dates... and then was devastated to see the breakup news. Miranda Sound is one of my most cherished bands. I was turned onto them while attending college in Indianapolis, and saw them play a show with Loretta sometime around 2002 (a combination I'd go on to see multiple times). I bought Engaged in Labor shortly thereafter and became immediately hooked. I coincidentally just started re-listening to it about 2 weeks ago and was reminded how much I liked this band. I will miss them.

Miranda Sound:

-Got me to research buying microphonic pickups to be able to replicate Dan's "Cast Anchor Cast" vocal/guitar intro...
-Persuaded me to buy Nada Surf's "The Weight is a Gift" after Billy sang some of their lyrics over the outro to a Miranda Sound song @ a show in Indy in 2005 (?)
-Sent me a handwritten thank you note after I ordered Western Reserve online
-Allowed me to drunkenly gush to them numerous times how much I enjoyed their music & songwriting
-In turn, I got to witness Billy gush to Kevin Whelan when I had the privilege of attending a MS/The Wrens show in Columbus
-Wrote a lot of good songs and few great ones: Midas, Advice at Night, Alaska.

If you guys play Chicago, I will be there. Otherwise, I'll be making the trip to Lexington.

Well, I can say with 100 percent certainty that this band will be terribly missed. And whoever said it is exactly right, miranda sound set the bar very high for indierock in cbus. after all is said and done, i think msound exemplify the kind of dedication to quality and musicianship that we should demand from bigger bands who people pay big money to see and hear. If I know these guys at all, they will not stop making interesting music with integrity. personally, i would like to give these guys all of the kudos in the world for their accomplishments, and wish them all success in whatever their futures hold.

ps- if none of you take up matt wagner's offer you are dead to me.
