I'm not feeling this one at all. I need to go back and listen to it again. I liked their last 2. I don't pay careful enough attention, I suppose, but did they add a female vocalist?

Ned, you should really check out The Bronx. I think you'd like 'em.
Reminds me of Quicksand in a way. Or like if the Foo Fighters didn't start sucking.

Mr.BAVox told me about these guys a few years ago and I checked 'em out. They didn't leave a lasting impression but maybe I should try again.

He's not? Okay, so he writes his own songs - that makes him different. And he doesn't have any kids, so he's different from B.Spears. But his drug habits and the attention he gets because of the stuff he puts into his body is right on par with Britney and Amy Winehouse.

Well, kinda right. But I guess I meant the content, style, honesty, and size.

(Granted, I haven't read a single news story about him or his antics.) Pete's a wreck, but it sounds like he at least knows it, and while he prolly uses it to commercial advantage, it just seems more real than a BS or AW.

They've always had a female vocalist, but she's singing a lot more on the new one.
I seriously think it's their best. Give it a little more attention before you chuck it on the discard pile.

I second the Bronx recommendation. Or third, or whatever.

Love JJ. We listened to a live 2 disc from (I think) 1979-1981 at work a few weeks ago. Made for a very pleasant day.

Also saw him in the (very small) crowd at Otto's for 2 whole sets of my roommate's band this past Monday.

and has anybody else noticed the fast-food commercial that just started running with joe jackson's classic (and former lordburger cover) "one more time?"

brightens my day just a little bit everytime . . .

I prefer the blue album with the magician on the cover with Shitty Future and History's Stranglers. The other, also self-titled one, with the mouth with blood that spells the Bronx, is their first and not as interesting to me.

A friend of mine saw Gallows at Vans Warped (I think? One of those things anyway) and bought one of their albums. He also has a blown up pic of him and their singer. Got drunk one night and that is all we could listen to. I kept singing at the top of my lungs "I am Cassanova!". The guitar work is brilliant. A+ and it's refreshing.

LSD Pond - awesome 2CD set of members of bardo pond, Masami Kawaguchi’s New Rock Syndicate and LSD march jamming together over 2 nights at their home studio.

Li Jianhong - San Sheng Shi Never heard of this guy before but this is an amazing disc of solo guitar/wall of noise/effects type stuff.

If these discs had been released 2 weeks earlier they both would have been on my top of 2007 list.

yeah, although it kinda makes me sad that "One More Time" is now a Taco Bell commercial....

Those first two albums are my favorite, although Night & Day is great too. Esp. love the track "Cancer."

AND joe's getting paid!!!! probably more than he EVER made form that album.

fuck yeah for him!!! huzzah!

I know, I know... honestly these things always give me mixed emotions. I am happy not only for Joe's wallet, but also the kids out there who might think "hey, what a rad tune!" and actually put the legwork into figuring out who did that song. I'm totally down with that. I also like hearing the little refrain as well.

But.. it just kinda makes me feel.... sorta sad too. Like the Ramones selling phones sad. I suppose it doesn't really matter though.
