Hey, does anyone here know who does those M's or Y's or combinations thereof that are all over the place? Ends up looking like this:

YYYYYYYYYYYY

those are cool.

There was a guy who just did big block letter names - his own, though I can't for the life of me remember what his name was. There was one on the old big blue NAPA building that used to be at Hudson or Weber and 71. And a piece that was behind the Lennox before it got turned into a mall.

his name was john something...i can't remember..

he was living with this guy who wrote Soe from San Francisco..

That is so edgy.

so twist isn't legitimate in your expert opinion of art?

He sounds like a thoroughly legitimate criminal.

i just know that the old generation does't understand the new generation so they say stupid shit cause they are too crotchy and arrogant to learn about the current cultures in their city.

I'm curious. Since age is so crucial to understanding the current culture, how old are you? What is the official cut-off age when people cease to be able to understand how great kids are and resort to saying "stupid shit?"

I congratulate you on successfully "proving" that the restaurant was tagged between owners. Now, how would you justify the other acts being mentioned? Are you going to encourage the "protection racket" scheme that mikecarney was describing?

i think like it or not there is a generation of kids that grew up on hip hop, skateboarding and graffiti.

I think that by now there are several generations of kids who grew up with those things. I also think that regardless of age, no good will come from encouraging kids to believe that crime must be associated with otherwise-positive activities. Not everyone is privileged (or white) enough to grow out of the negative labels that these works of art create.

but graffiti came from impoverished(mostly black) people that were neglected by their enviroment..

and people have developed themselves through it.

So, I want to be hip. Really, I do. The lesson to be learned here is that vandalism is cool, right?

And I'm sad that I can't paint my initials all over town in menstrual blood.

now that would be art. And something new.

interesting trivia: we get the word "pornography" from Roman whores writing their "menu" on the wall behind them. no lie. So I guess graffiti can support some small business.

i thnk that a more apt comparison would be who here ever took a jackhammer and broke off a piece of curb, cause skating doesn't equate to actually vandalizing something in a destructive manner, at least not as long as you are careful.

and no, i don't skate.

obviously.

skating cause lots of unsightly damage to property..

when i did grinds on marble ledges, i never wondered who owned it...
doubt most skaters do?

are you guys against street skateboarding as well?
