Becuase of the little dolts, who think it is cool to tag private property costing the city over $60K in clean up for one weekend.

Though I like Scribble and Nick Acurso has been a friend of mine for years, I can't blame the city for wanting to put the ax on the whole thing.

so in other words, the owner of the building might have taken a loss to rent out a tagged place, and perhaps the new business owner (and keep in mind that restaurants fold all the time, even good ones, because it's not an easy business to start and every dollar counts) figured they would take advantage of the possibly lower rent or that they could fix it later.

Either way, fucking try asking the owner to do some art on it. I love good mural art, but I don't think a fucking shitty looking tag qualifies.
