(i'm not sure what the proper "rules" are surrounding this but i thought it was really interesting so i've cut and pasted the message board entry from columbusmusic.com here. the message is from carlos of the floatation walls who at one time was a member of The Sun)

A million people have been asking me about the sun. I am writing this to clear up misconceptions about my relationship with them. I love all those boys. I don't like where the music has gone and that's why I left, not because I'm sick, because I felt like I was contributing to building up the heap of regurgitated music that's been out since the grunge thing happened.

When we were making the demos in chicago and LA, there were a few garage rock songs, but those were kinda my least favorite. Chris asked me if I would do the live band with him and Nicholas, a drummer. I said that the only way that would happen is if my boys (the walls) could be in on it too. The walls kinda secretly decided to make money off doing the sun and use it to finance the walls, and MAYBE be in another good band. But it didn't go quite like that.

The first things that got a little sick were that the old drummer, nicholas was kicked out because the laywer and agent and Chris didn't think he was good enough. There was talk of replacing him with a guy from a perfect circle. The agent has a lot of pull in the band. things were getting gross, and a lot of it had to do with money. Luckily Sam Brown, who is the best drummer in columbus, wanted to do it. I was still sick.

So, along the way the more creative ideas for a record were mostly ditched in favor of a more marketable sound. I didn't like it and I certainly was not going to sign a warner bros. contract obligating me to play it, especially while sick. I played one show with the new line up, (the one where chris threw tim easton's guitar at the drumset). I decided I was done after that.

Chris has some amazing songs, which haven't been played live yet. Bryan and Brad are very good at adapting to their newfound style, and again sam is the best drummer in columbus. They will probably make something amazing, once they have been a band for a while.

Chris and I talked about me doing studio stuff with them again, and we'll see how I and everyone feels about that.
As for Bryan and Brad in the flotation walls, it's like they're married to someone else and still sleep with us every once in a while, which is ok, because I'm focusing on other music projects right now. I don't know who's in the flotation walls except me, maybe everyone that's ever been in it is in it. I don't know.

The main point is that I don't have hard feelings towards the guys for cashing in, and Chris out off all of them has surprisingly kept in touch with me the most since I've been sick. I hope they do well, not because I like the music, because I like them as people.
