Okay...maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but Digital Club Network may be the coolest thing EVER about having a cable modem.
Over at
They've got an ENORMOUS and I mean gigantic collection of archived live shows from your favorite known/unknown groups that all us savage little donewaiting heathens just love to fawn over.
A sampling of what awaits us, you say?
Spoon shows:
Les Savy Fav shows:
Local Heroes The Stepford Five:
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists:
Not to mention cool bands like S Process, Minus the Bear, Calla, Cursive and three shows from the freaking DISMEMBERMENT PLAN. Oh yeah, also there are old concerts from Interpol, The Strokes, etc that sound ridiculously bad. Interesting as history pieces and they really show how far the bands have come in such a short time. Other local acts might want to think of submitting video. I assume that's acceptable but since I'm not in a band I didn't look into that aspect of the site. (Denovo, Miranda Sound, I'm looking at you guys.
)
I can't tell you how much fun I've had with this. I'm honestly thinking of using DCN as party background music for the forseeable future. Oh yeah, and it's FREE.
Ridiculous, beautiful, and true.
For the pleasure of your email address you get the goods.
Cable modem folks, you've gotta have it. You've gotta love it.
