Ah memories...This was a running joke between many of my friends my first and only year at Franklin Pierce College, it being the most amusingly titled book in the whole timid library. A goth friend of mine in the antropology department read it and told that although it was ok it didn't at all live up to the great title. Does it?

Right now i'm reading a few books, my main book right now is the Mists of Avalon, a book that's sat among my piles for years, mostly because I was duboious about whether a femininist retelling of the Arthurian saga was worth my time, and thankfully its really well written. I'm also reading a book called Scandals in the House of Birds a first hand account of Santiago Atitlan, one of the most beautiful and unchanged fully Mayan cities in Guatamala, and its struggle to keep its Shamanic beliefs intact in the face of years of encroaching westernization and aggressive Christian missionary work. This is a very good book to get first hand accounts of old mayan myths told through many different times and peoples. Oh yeah i'm also trying to finish a book on the Qaballah. There might be a few others but who knows if i'll ever finish the ones i've forgotten.

Seth

Not too far into it yet, though the person who loaned it to me (a devout feminist and vegitarian) said about the same thing. She did say that it was well worth the read though.

So far, it's a bit ham-handed but she has some valid points.

The Threatening Storm: The Case for Invading Iraq by Kenneth M. Pollack
** i started this when the Iraq War started...i am now about halfway through. that is not an indication that it isn't good, but more an indication that i got my priorities mangled.

Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain
** i worked 'in industry' for several years, as did my wife, so it is fitting that someone suggested that i read this, b/c it is a hilarious tell all about the crazy people who make restaurants run...the types of people i am very familar with.

The Return of the King by J. R. R. Tolkien
** this is waiting on the bookcase; a new copy i bought when Jackson signed on for the trilogy. guess i need to get to work on it, b/c knowing me, it will take a few months to finish and Nov ain't all that far away.

Okay, it took me awhile but I finally finished Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Corey Doctorow. It's a small book, and if you give it the proper attention it deserves, you can gobble it in a few hours.

Very great look at the future all in the context of Disney World. Trust me, it works. Really enjoyed it.

More about the book here: http://www.craphound.com/down/

Corey, by the way, also runs http://boingboing.net -- a favorite site of mine.

If you don't want to buy the book, that's okay, he's giving it away for free too. Download the whole thing: http://www.craphound.com/down/download.php
