Here's my surprised look. I have no idea how anyone supported either of our war efforts in the first place, let alone how they continue to rationalize it. There's always this bs about supporting our troops no matter what- which is about as rational, intelligent and human as "love it or leave it".

My nephew's been in Iraq and Afghanistan for years and I think it is completely asinine; an utterly misguided waste of his talent and abilities. He's a good kid caught up in someone else's mess, unknowingly supporting an unjust cause and defending and securing the rights of the corporations and the elite while he's at it.

Fuck the war effort. I'm glad he's getting out soon. We can finally go nuke godless gay baby seals for Christ with his Republican parents, again.

I agree. I've had two people I went to school with killed and my cousin was injured. My family still dances around the support our troops flag pole without even questioning what is going on. It's a mess and shame on the American people (myself included) for allowing this to happen.

Oh well, A-Rod is close to 600 homers!

Are you referring to this story, that they can't account for 95% of the $9.1 Billion in Iraq reconstruction money?

Mindboggling.

Hasn't this been a problem for like 5 years? Or did it happen again?

Extraterritorial and major domestic deployments have been a U.S. obsession and problem since 1775.

Funding both sides of the war to maximize extraterritorial gains is popular and can typically receive large support at home when properly executed (because the supporters are patriots, of course, and they love their country and stuff like that).

It's comforting, maybe, because it resembles the same familiar left/right facade seen in our democracy, known elsewhere around the word as fascism: a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology that seeks to organize the nation according to corporatist perspectives, values, and systems including the political system and the economy.

"The music from the telescreen stopped and a voice took over. Winston raised his head to listen. No bulletins from the front, however. It was merely a brief announcement from the Ministry of Plenty. In the preceding quarter, it appeared, the Tenth Three-Year Plan's quota for bootlaces had been over-fulfilled by 98 per cent. "
