so the scene where you see the island underwater was pretty LOL but for the most part i loved all 2 hours.

Especially the part where they go over top of the shark. Do you think that was the producers nod to "jumping the shark"?

i mad that same joke the FIRST time they showed the dharma-logo shark, back in what, season 2?

yeah they would've hit the pocket regardless, but what i thought was interesting was the idea that if our heroes wouldn't have been there, the drilling would've been more extensive (more than a minor scratch or "incident") which would've caused the island to sink somehow

i'm guessing the island sank later, as the underwater framework of the barracks looked more like "new otherton" rather than the way it looked as "dharmaville" in '77.

Damn it. I looked away for a few seconds, and all I saw was the foot.

hilarious.

I know it's cool to hate Jack, but I can't help but laugh out loud every time something makes him do the "are you kidding me?" laugh.

I'm surprised it's taken them this long to really address the concept of "infection." Is Claire really infected, or is she the new Rousseaux?

Punk Claire = hawt.

I'm finding the new story flow to be surprisingly natural. I think the transition sound effect resembles a jet engine now.

I rewatched "Flashes Before Your Eyes" because I am convinced that what is happening currently to our Losties happened to Desmond in season 3 when he turned the key (hydrogen bomb?) in the hatch. I thought it might be able to give me a sense of where the season will go.

I'm not completely convinced but I found one thing that really caught me off-guard. As you may remember from that episode, Desmond turns the key and then wakes up on the floor of his and Penny's apartment covered in red paint. He keeps getting little bits of deja vu until Eloise finds him later and blows his goddamn mind with a lesson on fate and destiny.

Anyways, Penny is helping Desmond with his tie in the mirror for his job interview with Widmore and she notices a small red paint spot on his neck, just like Jack in the mirror on the plane. Something like that couldn't be just coincidence...

Where'd you get the name? Do you mean the smoke monster is impersonating him? If so, I think being infected is something different, as it seems to involve a physical host body. John Locke's corpse was still there even though Smokey resembled him. Sayid appears to have been tainted by whatever seeped into the Lazarus Pit, probably the same "essence" that infected the french team under the temple. This also suggests that the infection process may be caused by some artifact or substance there, which the monster occasionally exploits. Also, we've yet to see any indication that the monster is able to be two separate entities (especially in separate places across the island) at once.

Btw, since we now know that the smoke monster is more than just a quasi-sentient security system, the "judging" it appeared to be doing when it hesitated was probably more of a calculation about whether the target would still be useful to the Jacob-killing plan. That brings us to: grab/slam/hurl/con.

In effort to see all the oscar nominated movies, I watched "A Serious Man" this past Weds. The term "dybbuk" was used in the opening sequence, so I decided to look it up. Wiki described "dybbuk" as a "malicious posessing spirit, believed to be the dislocated soul of a dead person." What a coincidence! So no, I was thinking more of a posession thing rather than impersonating.

That does sound apt. While I was thinking through my last post, I was reminded of The First Evil from Buffy Seasons 3 and 7.

i don't know if think it was a calculation or plotting. i still think it falls along the lines of judging. it seems that there are definite rules through which the monster can be aggressive, hence Alpert specifically screaming for them not to shoot FLocke. Maybe the fact that the Man in Black couldn't kill Jacob was simply along the lines of these rules (person has to be aggressive, or has to have harmful intentions for the island), and he knew that Jacob would never do either of those things.

even if he was joking, i don't think that B.S. is too far off. i've had a sinister feeling towards Jacob for a while and his, "there is only one beginning and one end, everything in between is just progress" comment, didn't help. but i don't know, i also keep thinking i'm trapping myself by trying to label certain characters as "good" or "bad guys."

Omg, I think you nailed it. (and beat me to it  :wall: ) But I'm going to start calling his guise UnLocke.

I haven't really delved too far into his intentions yet, but the writers would probably love to throw in that kind of swerve. Every faction keeps proclaimng themselves the "good guys." We may find that all of them are really trying to achieve a similarly altruistic goal, but have conflicting ideas about how to do it.

so my current favorite theory is that the losties living in what's being called the "flash-sideways" are actually living in the world that's created when the temple-losties "fix" whatever it is they they eventually fix. the events going on in the temple-timeline are going to create the world we're seeing in the sideways timeline.

but if you want a real head fuck, try sorting thru all these "theory arguements" on these pages . . .

WHAT THE

4- Locke, 16- Jarrah, 8- Reyes, 42- Kwon, 23- Shepherd and 15- Ford (loved that Shepherd got 23 - Psalm 23). Does Shepherd refer to Jack or Christian (or possibly Claire or Aaron as they are from the same paternal bloodline)? I read that someone said the numbers correlate to their seat numbers on the original plane ride, and that in AlternaWorld, Jack switched from 23 to 24.

This is interesting:

Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Psalm 24

1The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

7Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

The blond boy in the jungle - Aaron? Young Jacob? Both?

AlternaBen is shaping young minds! Creepy!
