Ok...so i'm not sure if some of you out there work these 8-5 Office Space -esque jobs where the majority of your day (most days) is spent looking like you are working hard but avoiding work totally? Well, I do...not all the time, but we are in a down-time for projects so I'm busy looking like i'm busy when I'm really doing nothing at all...

So, I've spent all day getting my band all signed up on http://www.garageband.com and now it comes to reviewing other people's music so you can post your own songs up there for others to review and listen to...and it requires realplayerone...which isn't working and i'm getting an error message saying after about 5 minutes of saying that its trying to connect, that its unable to connect to the proxy server...

I know we have an Office LAN connection here which is 100mbps or whatever...I know we have firewalls (for example, I'm not allowed to view any racy stuff at work, not even The Onion's site which sucks), i've tried all the troubleshooting tips on the real.com site and its still not working and i'm still getting the same message, can anyone out there help me please? i'm so frustrated!

chances are, you'll have to talk to whoever is the network admin in your office, settings are usually specific enough that you'll have to have some more information.

oh well. that's what i thought - or something along those lines, i could have wasted hours doing that...we aren't 'supposed' to be doing that kind of stuff at work so i can't really ask the network people here...but they are so busy worrying about people looking at porn and employees stealing money from the bank that the sites i go to usually sneak below the radar. i was hoping for an answer like..." well look here in your internet settings and copy and paste to there and then click on this and this and this and you are ready!" but who am i foolin'!?! at least i know i'm not completely stupid and that it is a network/IS issue and not something i did or didn't do....

nope, the 'ol HNB. But from what I heard, its just as bad...I work in a sea of cubicles...we actually have TPS Reports...we'll chat about it sometime over beers, its totally bizarre.
