Zilker Park
2100 Barton Springs Road
Austin, Texas

Zilker Park is located in the heart of Austin where Barton Creek joins Town Lake. The main Festival grounds will cover the Peace Grove section, also known as the soccer fields, on the north side of Barton Springs Road. Click here for maps of the local area, the Festival site, and shuttle and parking locations.

zilker park is a really nice park, i bet the barton springs pool is full of hippies that weekend. (as if it's not normally full of hippies. heh). i just might consider a road trip back to texas for this. must be that soft spot in my heart for country and indie rock. just the idea of yo la tengo taking the stage right after dwight yoakam sounds ingenious to me.

why can't they have this the weekend after SXSW so i can go to both and save some flow?

it's about 2.5 hours away.

unfortunately, I typically avoid festivals like the plague. since most of the time, texas doesn't get any festivals on this scale, I assume this will be packed to the gills with all sorts of people.

with some of the bands listed, I can only imagine what the fanbase will be like. I have been forced to attend a pat green show before in some small town outside san antonio and I was afraid to let my girlfriend go to the port-a-potty by herself. the date rape culture with that group of fans is so thick it's pathetic. basically a bunch of moneyed redneck frat guys wearing abercrombie & fitch hats, red wing boots, the fashionable jeans du jour, and some fraternity shirt. not a good scene.

maybe it's just me. I hate people.

and I judge them based on the way they look. not good.

heh. I joke.

several of my friends are attending and I am sure I'll get a full report sometime.

Yeah. Heh.

I am sure there will be some good shows there. But the crowd and the drive will keep me away. Just like Lollapalooza.
