What's your favorite comic?

Being the cartoonist I am, I'm always looking for people who like comics (both strips and books). So what's everyone's favorite?

As I mentioned in a previous topic, Optic Nerve is winning me over. I'm a proponet of the comic strip myself, and "Get Fuzzy" is my favorite, although I'm a big-time fan of the 80's strips, including "Calvin and Hobbes," "Bloom County" and "The Far Side."

Oh, and just in case anyone cares...

Sadly, OhioRocks has gone onto the big http:// in the sky, but you can still access a few things on the site, including my comics. I'm hoping to launch my own comic site sometime before summer, but for now, the defunct will have to suffice.

the boondocks. it's fucking beautifully drawn, funny as hell, and politically right on.

also anything by john porcellino, and about half of james kochalka's stuff

Ths week, I got sent a comic called Lumakick. Lovely linework, precise and full of air. Have only read it the once, there's a few stories about dreams, there are a lot of recurring images through the (separate but obviously connected). I liked it a lot, and I think the creator, Richard Hahn is one to keep an eye on.

i went to an art gallery show today that featured some of chris ware's work. he was there and after a few (free) beers, i went up to him and got my poster signed. sweet.

also sweet was that dan clowes made an unexpected appearance as well. today was good.

Favorite series (all time): The Sandman Neil gaiman
runner up Grimjack John Ostrander/Tim Truman, Flint Henry
2nd runner up Preacher I thought the first 30 or so issues were amazing, kind of went downhill in the second half of the series.

still in the middle of transmetropolitan but thouroughly enjoying it.

Favorite series (current): Y the last man.
ok, so it's the only series i currently find worth $3/month but that doesn't mean it's not good.

Favorite comic strip: Red Meat.

i don't know about all this high-brow comic stuff but my favorite all-time comic is richie rich-billions #8. it's got it all. loads of liberal morality, tension, loss, and it's beautifully rendered. i'm also a fan of the short-lived comic, lloyd llewelyn.
