hi! we, The Brand Plastic, are from Indianapolis and will be making our first appearance in columbus on June 6th at the Factory though we've played with several of Columbus's prodigal sons (Miranda Sound, Stepford 5, and Stardrop) here in Indy. i'm just curious as to what the club is like. anyone have a link or wanna describe the place. hmmmm?

Depends on who you ask :)

Duffy is slowly warming up to it. I like it a lot. The problem is, it's kind of buried so it's not like there is a big turnout of people who just happen to be walking by the club and see bands playing and decide to pop in.

The club has been booking some really great rock shows (Burning Brides, Aereogramme, Local H, Les Savy Fav, etc.) but the turnouts have been less than stellar.

The Factory is split into two rooms -- the "lounge" is the smaller more private room. It holds about 300 people. Small stage, good sound, comfortable environment. The "factory" is a big open space that you actually have to walk through to get to the "lounge". The bigger shows take place in this room. The biggest complaint that I've heard is that on weekends they usually have something going on in both rooms (usually some sort of DJ/dance type thing going on in the "factory".

I've been there when there are events going on in both rooms and the bass thumping from the "factory" hasn't distracted from the show in the "lounge". But, then again, the show I saw in the "lounge" was a loud rock show. I imagine that during a more quiet and intimate set in the "lounge", it's possible that the sound could be drowned out a bit.

Go to http://www.mfcolumbus.com for more info and for the club calendar.

thank you very much Ned! sounds like its similar to The Emerson here in Indianapolis. except in indianapolis all age clubs aren't allowed to sell alcohol (and we can't buy alcohol on sundays). stupid indiana legisture... *grumble grumble*
