Have a favorite Cleveland restaurant, record store, etc? Let me know.

I'm heading there again tomorrow for a 2 day run to see Ted Leo and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

i'd say avoid cleveland at any costs. if at all possible, i'd just follow Karen O. wherever she goes after the show.

but, these are two shows which would make the painful drive up 71 worth it. if you can find the King of Swing, it's a quintessential dive bar that is stocked with baseball memorabilia and old time jazz music. it's much better than it sounds. a real cleveland atmosphere. worth seeking out.

as far as record stores, used kid's trumps all in ohio, but i think there's a place called my mind's eye that has a great selection. the area around the grog shop is pretty hip.

alas, we used to have a big fun in columbus. but i'm sure there was something in san fran that would top both big fun and used kid's. duffy must of spent hours upon hours scouring through amoeba. the best record store i've ever been to period.

as far as ohio, i believe columbus is really where it's at, in terms of record stores and bars.

you had to bring up cleveland.....

it USED to be the location of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurant in the state....maybe region. Soul Vegetarian!! damn it was good. sometimes i made trips to cleveland just to eat there. However, it closed it's doors a few months ago. I almost cried.

Tommy's (right across from Big Fun) is decent though.

Computer Love: After spending $100 a week at Amoeba for a year, when I moved to Columbus I was sad. My first visit to the record stores on campus was a bad experience. I threw up in the hallway of Used Kids after going through shock.

But I've come to love the Kids. It's no Amoeba, but fuck is anything?

AND DEAR EVERYONE WHO THINKS I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT: I'm assuming Big Fun is a store?

You can go on and on about Used Kids, but Haffa's in Athens is the best fucking music store in the world.

On the small-scale. I'm sure Amoeba tops them all.
