I'm actually more excited about the lineup this year than I've ever been, maybe. I hope that doesn't make me a hipster.

wait, you can write "hipster" without it being replaced by that smiley now? LAME.

noticed this:
shitty online comfest program wrote:
SPEAK OUT FROM COMFEST
Saturday
2:50pm Offramp
Homeless In America
Carl Landry

Sunday
3:30pm Offramp
Frac You, Frac Me
A Fracking Skit
Dr. Susan Moeller & Friends

things i can see that are good:
bombing mansfield
ferals
whoa nellie!
envelope
phantods
total foxx
bush league
mary adam 12 (evidently it's 1993)
tim easton
new city gypsy
tony monaco

things that i can see that are not good:
didn't total recess and shazzbots open the offramp on saturday last year?
TAI CHI DEMO WITH MUSIC BY PAUL BROWN
the professors? from dayton?
the rest of it
(also noticing that susann moeller has a slot on the live arts stage on friday, COULD IT BE THE SAME MOELLER???)

THAT SHIT LOOK RUFF

things i can not see:
every single band i've liked in col's in the last year
(didn't apply=no excuse)

still, i suppose either you bitch about "the same bands play every year" or "who the fuck are these guys?"…and this is shaping up to be a year of the latter

Maybe it's just another sign of how out-of-touch I've become, but I'm just not seeing what youse guys mean about the whotf factor. During my first scan, I didn't feel like I knew any fewer bands than I usually do, on the whole. Factoring in all of the stages, in fact, I felt like I knew more of them than usual. I suppose the bands I dislike/unknow just kinda get tuned out, and I'm just thankful for fewer scheduling conflicts. I was actually pretty excited to see the Offramp lineup for Friday.
Is it a conspicuous-by-absence kind of thing again?

Well that's a relief. The only thing I'd rather be less than a hipster is a hippy.

Woot! This is year 12 of me not having a band in ComFest. I am shooting for the Columbus record of applied but non-inclusions. Thus far my entire adult life is covered.

[quote="Motion Promotion"]at least i can find a few bands to see through out the whole weekend. but this frees up a lot of time to wait in line for beer and mingle instead of always be in a hurry.

i will for sure not miss Bi Bear, Phantods, Envelope, Old Hundred, Way Yes, Bush League All Stars, All Eyes Path.

And if you're free on Friday at 3:30, check out Saturday Giant at the solar stage. That dude works super hard on his music.[/quotI Damn I should have tried to work hard on my music.

Wes, sorry to have messed up your wardrobe and you really should be listening to Spice 1. Trigga gots no heart.

I really feel that Zoombeezi Bay is a legit solution to the everyday shit system. Who has been on the new slides (totally serious question)?

Oh c'mon. I didn't even realize this event had bands until a couple of years ago and I've been attending and volunteering for like the past 20 years.

I have to agree that the offramp is not looking like the lineups of old where you could camp out for the entire event and see mostly stellar bands back to back to back. I'm pretty certain that red rabbit and Ben Hamilton did not weigh in on this year's selections.

Alas, I will still enjoy.

Have a colossal weekend bender, hang out with a million friends, pass out on people's porches at dawn after afterhour parties, piss your pants (duh, you're a professional), meet your future girlfriend on Sunday and call off work on Monday.

If this year's lineup doesn't shorten the beer lines, nothing will.

I'm going to miss one of the few bands I actually wanted to see this year because of my volunteer shift. Double pants kick.

Someone was just telling me about that a few days ago! Wasn't it like, the middle of the afternoon on Sunday? I can only imagine parents hurriedly escorting their kids away, trying to shield their eyes...

I'm truly sorry to have missed that set.

it has to be one of my best comfest memories ever. everyone crowded around the gazebo, and it was just INSANE.

Did you know that Ron House texts?

I mean, he actually texts!

Is anybody else surprised by this facebook tidbit trivia?

I don't think he texted the comfest committee tho. Too bad..

The most important issue for me this year is: who's mc'ing? I heard Dan Dougan was doing it, but at this point, I think he's still looking for subs..
