There was a moment during IC's last song where I thought "this must be what it's like watching your parents make-out" Problem is that I really liked it. I mean shouldn't rock n roll make you question things like your political beliefs, and sexual orientation while making you wonder if you really do love your mom? |

just got back from vacation and thought I'd way in. I had a good time, more hippy/jam bands than I remember in past years, but I just moved on to another stage, it's not them it's me. I just don't get it. I spent most of Saturday at the off-ramp stage. I tried a few other stages, but found myself returning to my blanket and the bands under the tent: That said, I don't like the tent, the stage and tent sits too low, so it's hard to see the bands from outside. Plus, it can be very, very loud. Also, it took almost an hour to get a beer at the tent, that kind of sucked too. Dave Holms' is almost too talented for his own good. Ever song was so different than the previous song I felt like I was listening to a different band each time, in a good way, sort of. I have to admit, I can't remember the bands name, but I think it was actually Bigfoot on stage. Flying Saucers still can get peoples asses up and dancing! Harvest Kings were surprisingly louder and heavier than I expected from their cd. Again, mostly in a good way. The songs are catchy and the Uncle Tupelo cover was a nice surprise. Unit One was more country than I expected to hear or remember from their Rumba show I went to a while back. Lost Revival is five years away from being amazing, if they stick together. I still mostly enjoyed their set. Mooncussers started out strong, but I felt their set was too front loaded and by the end I was fried, or maybe just drunk. The Replacements cover was sweet! I went Sunday to see Miranda Sound's Billy Peaks new band, it was exactly as I expected. great musicianship and solid song writing. That's it for me. Thanks everyone at Comfest for giving me a great weekend of music, community, and lot's of gawking. Can't wait until next year. Maybe my band will finally get in too. |
