A performance by Randall Douglas Matson and CD release party for "The Interlocutor" (3C 41). Saturday, April 2, 3:00-6:00 p.m., The Dolphin Lounge, 345 Agler Road, Gahanna, Ohio. We can't guarantee that refreshments will be served -- but they were at the previous performance/party in Autumn 2010 for the "Motorhome Boogie" release (3C 39), and they were might fine too, we might add.
The Beatdowns farewell show -- originally announced for Saturday, April 9 -- has been canceled, but will be rescheduled soon. Also on the bill -- The Hexers, Travis Kokas, and Closet Mix (the new Old 3C house-band). More on this event as new details become available.- - - Old 3C announces two new releases. That's right, even more new stuff keeps coming at you, and here are two we sure you're going to want to call your own. | 3C 42 | Alyosha Het, The Purgatourist CD | 11 songs | $12 us (mail order) | $8 us (digital) |Alyosha Het is a Columbus-area singer/songwriter who's first record, The Purgatourist, was issued by Indiana's label in 2010. He soon hipped-us here at Old 3C headquarters to his Marc Bolan-meets-Robyn Hitchcock, home-brewed song-craft, and we promptly brought him aboard. We think your going to like this a lot, and invite you to check-out even more tracks at his site. | 3C 41 | Randall Douglas Matson, The Interlocutor CDR | 15 songs | $12 us (mail order) | $8 us (digital) |The prolific Mr. Matson is back with his second full-length release, just a few months after his well-received debut (Motorhome Boogie, 3C 39, below). And while it's clear that his previous work was pretty special, The Interlocutor is an even stronger set of songs, also expertly self-produced. The Buckley/Orbison/Thompson touch-points are still present, but Randall takes them to places only he can go. Beautiful stuff. - - - Here's the deal on the The Mealworms "Radio Cabinet Rabbit Hutch" LP (3C 30) vinyl pressing. So, Kyle finally came up with the cash and got himself to Musicol to have this pressed in a limited run of 300 copies -- 100 on black, 100 on gray-marble, 50 on green, 25 on purple, and 25 on red vinyl. All vinyl purchases come with a FREE digital download code. Old 3C will ONLY have the gray-marble available for mail order.
