It's the most telling thing about what is wrong with the shock-critic genre. It's all about trying to get cheap laughs at the expense of someone else's work. There's nothing informative about it, and it's become so commonplace that it's no longer as risky. What really takes balls in this "scene" is standing up for what you like. If you read between the lines, you can see that he's afraid to admit how much he enjoyed it and is frantically searching for ways to bury the positive amid a minefield of snarkage.

i saw the black canary once. i thought the best part was the girls in the band. there was another time at skully's, but i didn't see them 'cause i was in the front room.
