Can anyone recommend a good place to take one of my poor, mistreated electric guitars to get fixed? I have an input jack that needs re-soldered, and a proper set-up wouldn't hurt either. Preferably someplace near downtown/old-town/bexley/etc.

5th ave's the best. it also costs about the most. and phil, who's reputation made the place, is the least likely guy to be doing the actual work on your shit. drag, too, becasue he's got magic fucking hands. i've been going to him since he worked at cowtown guitars up by the continent.

for less money and amazing quality, arturo deleon is still doing the same level of work he did at string shoppe, just outta his home now instead.

if you are into the DIY thing, Stewart-MacDonlad has a basic setup kit that they offer for about the same price as a pro setup from the fret shop. looks pretty nice and comes with instructions too:



i'm sure radio shack can hook you up with a basic soldering kit to rework your connections. don't let the bench rates at abell fool you, soldering is not difficult.

I've done all my own guitar works since i was about 15, it's not that hard, it's really all about trial and error. Also, you can find specs on how to set up any guitar on the internet these days and soldering stuff is actually fun, if you believe in fun.

look dude, i've steered clear of your threads and posts because you commit the greatest sin of all on the internets. not the self-obsession, not the constant assumptions of everyone else, not the confusion of topics that you know nothing about, and then following the confusion up with telling everyone else they're the ones in the wrong, not the baiting, not the martyrdom, and not the blameless-ness. no, none of those. although you commit almost every one of those every day.
