In the 1970s I bought a Pink Fairies at the Summit Mall in Akron and the dude told me to check out his band Tin Huey. I liked "Puppet Heads" and enjoyed them live but overall I think his nephew's band Black Keys are better. Deathly Fighter still a tossup. |

Like Moses, Kevyn wanted to destroy the values of his day. |

from Jerry Danmiller's piece on Bill Fox: "Bill Fox (Cleveland, 80s-90s): The legend of reclusive Cleveland folkie Bill Fox luckily hasn’t quite eclipsed that of his music,.... A Columbus show (one can dream) would likely be inhabited by a paltry crowd: some New Bomb Turks, Bela, Moviola, and a few other knowing stragglers, but would be great to see him on a stage again. " Well, Bill played a free show yesterday at Lost Weekend Records and the crowd was pretty much what you asked for, (expect Bela who was out of town), but I did see two New Bomb Turks there, some Moviolas (Jerry D. and former drummer Ted H. also a TJSA'er), the rest of the "paltry crowd" included quite a bit of the Columbus Music scene past and present: one part Necropolis, one part Horseshit, one part Beatdowns, one part Vena Cava, one former Gaunt/current Obviouslies, one part 84 Nash, one part Day Creeper, one part Log, one part Night Of pleasure, 2/3rds of You're So Bossy and all of TNV plus some others I am sure I am forgetting, and assorted "knowing stragglers". It was a great time. Bill came down from Cleveland with his friends The Prisoners. Bill played for about 30 minuets then The Prisoners played about a 25 minute set, then Bill returned and played for about another hour. He played pretty much everything off of the 'Shelter From The Smoke" album, some new songs and a great cover of Bob Dylan's "Spanish Harlem Incident". His playing and voice were in fine form. Hopefully he will return to Columbus soon and it is not another decade wait. |
