Post subject:  Give The People What They Want

Here's another "established band leaving their big honking record labels and start D.I.Y?" Though it appears Dylan is doing this thru his company. I think it's a cool idea!

Train Joins Pearl Jam, Phish in CDR Wonderworld

Train is the latest big band to offer up fans What They Want:

Train and its label, Columbia Records, have set up an Internet site that allows fans to make their own custom CDs of the groups music. Users can select up to 12 tracks or 78 minutes of music from a library from Train's Columbia Records catalog, including the hits "Meet Virginia," "Drops Of Jupiter," "I Am," and "Something More." Fans can also select from several live versions of the groups songs, as well as covers and rarities. (full story)

With bands like Train and Pearl Jam cutting to the chase, one might start to wonder: will more established bands starting leaving their big honking record labels and start D.I.Y? Could be interesting.
