i consider the unholy two to be the only rock&roll band in town. so i guess they are on the list second best chuck berry tribute band would probably be vile gash not that big into metal but prosanctus Inferi is better than the rest. also the nuke hammer demo rips. Detox is heavily slept on. im rooting for knave finally some one who is making good electronic music that is not a raver. shark bolt was super good. cheater slicks live this year were mind numbing. best live k-hole garage. probably other stuff too. |

RTFO Flagships and New Jack 7" - I'm also looking forward to the next lp Proper Nouns - A Million Hurtful Things Super Desserts - Bring On the Super Desserts and Barefoot in the Disenchanted Forest, winners hands-down for best packaging. Sorry, Moon High. Ironic clip art > pains-taking stitchery in my book. Umbrella Men - self-titled. Great nostalgia pop that only I seem to care about on this board. The Kyle Sowashes - Yeah, Buddy Melty Melty - Rise of the Birdmen Rosehips - self-titled. TNV - Rip It Off. |

Pirate (I think they should be included on every local list) The Receiver (new album not out yet, but new songs are..my favorite band in Columbus right now) TNV (seemingly last inthe entire city to hear them. the scene was actually right about this one) Marseille Marseille (ex Vietnam II...and snowing) The Lost Revival Brainbow (first heard them this year) Greenlawn Abbey (haven't heard from them in a while, but...) last and maybe least (of this list, gringo), who knows...the Unholy Two. |

I'm working on my year end best of lists, so it seems like a good time to chime in. I'm going to stick to actual records that came out as I don't see bands live as often as I'd like. THE GRAVE BLANKETS – Our Love Is Real 7" TIMES NEW VIKING – Rip It Off / Stay Awake EP ENVELOPE – Sharkbolt ROSEHIPS – Rosehips THE UNHOLY TWO - Kutter 7" BRAINBOW – Brainbow FEY GODS – Fey Gods tape VEGETATIVE STATE – Nice Life LP MOON HIGH – Moon High DEERHEAD – Deerhead RTFO BANDWAGON – New Jack 7" GUINEA WORMS - Box Of Records 7" THE KYLE SOWASHES – Yeah Buddy I also have to mention the Blueprint track on the Jakeone album, "Scared". That shit rules. |
