Soldierant - On the CD, Billy has the higher-pitched voice and Dan has the lower-pitched.

Here's a quick tip - Billy sings all of "We Could be Landowners" - track 5. Dan sings all of "Advice at Night" - track 12

Also, if you think it's hard to tell them apart on this CD, you should listen to the first one! I had such a hard time figuring out who was who!

Here's the REAL quick tip. Billy is the one who some critic accurately described as sounding like his testicle are shriveling up.

Actually, I like the band. My complaint is about Billy's voice. Please note that I complimented Dan and the songs themselves.

And that's fantastic. The songwriting is tight, and the lyrics are introspective.

I just really like the duality in their voices. Especially in the live version of "Cast Anchor Cast." Dan singing into his pickup and Billy's high voice. It's so eerie and beautiful. And "We Could Be Landowners"? Jesus....fans of the band badgered them for 9 months to play that song live.

And just a note for the future: if you want to talk critically about a band/singer, it's easier to be a little softer in your confrontation. Comparing Billy to Phil Collins is the ultimate hurt, considering how soulless and what a shill Collins is.

I didn't mean Billy was souless. just that his voice sounds like Phil Collins.

Someone who acts as a frontman for a bad enterprise. Phil Collins is a frontman for bad, cracker music.

He seems innocent enough. He seems 'white' enough for the American public. They think his music must be good. They buy it. They are quickly disappointed. They realize they've been swindled.

billy's voice is distinctive. i don't think he sounds ANYTHING like phil collins though.

I never said anything about Billy's ethics.

All I said was that his voice SOUNDED like Phil Collins' voice. The high notes sound strained.
