Sounds like I should check-out Mad Mex. I've got a general rule: if the eatery doesn't seem to recognize vegetarians in some way, I don't eat there. It's not so much on principal. I just can't trust they grasp the concept enough to respect or accommodate it and I don't really wanna be a pain in the ass about it.

I went to Blue Nile once many years ago. I looked at the menu, decided to go with the a buffet and handed back the menu. Then I asked for my menu back so I could check to see what was vegetarian. They said that wasn't necessary - it was all vegetarian. An all you can eat Ethiopian/African vegetarian buffet at 8pm on a Friday - can't get much better than that in my world. The food was kinda like an earthier/thyme-ier indian food to my taste buds. I need to get back there.

The best pizza I've ever had was from Whole World about 5 years ago. Elroy and I discussed this. There's some chance he actually made said pizza.

i really hate this topic, but to follow up wes and joel re: knowing wtf you're talking about... the waitress at mad mex, when my vegan friend ordered fajitas (with veg sc and cheese) said "ok, the grilling sauce isn't vegan, you want me to tell them to leave it off?"

which, poor atmosphere and godawful musical choices aside, is pretty rare in a restaurant around here
