Oh my GAWD!!!!!!!!
Springfest is tommorrow and I need a date!!!
What am I gonna do?

Last year, I went out with that St. Pauly Girl, but she ended up getting into a three way with Sam Adams and some frat dude.
I cried, I'm not ashamed to admit it here before everyone, people thought is was just Neil Hagerty, but my heart got broke yo.

That shit was the shit. Seriously, Springfest has kinda blown the last two years and it was great to see that many people out supporting this shit and coming together. The lineup was killer (Immortal Technique was hilarious)- both the locals and the tourists, the weather was good, and most importantly the fans/spectators were cool to each other.

The real victory of the night belongs to the 1680 N. High UDF, who sold more empty soda cups (*and Steel Reserve, coincidentally) in support of public intoxication than previously foreseen by the demographics of cop stupidity at the last regional meeting.

Early on the sound was OK, but I thought the Unicorns sound was not mixed very well. I dug the concert in general, though, as it was a good chance to wander around campus a bit (& hit up Buckeye Donuts & Flying Pizza) while seeing some good free music.

Except for Weird War, they just sucked.

Mike, it wasn't necessarily the sound that was the problem with the unicorns. I have thoroughly enjoyed the album for quite some time, but a fairly common thing i hear from showgoers is that they aren't necessarily a very tight band... my obtaining of their first album "The Unicorns are People Too" (now out of print) convinced me that this band got one hell of a production job on the new album. Furthermore, I was a little dissappointed that they opted for America-Bashing instead of their usual stage antics, which often include throwing decks of cards and pb&j sandwiches at the crowd, corny jokes, and wacky hats...
I think Weird War were pretty good... certainly not as good without NM Hagerty.
The Thermals were charming and rocking.
Overall though, I think that locals Teeth of the Hydra,Between the Devil the Deep Blue Sea and El Jesus De Magico displayed the most savvy sets of the whole day. I think between the devil are going places...
overall i think they did a good job this year and have to give much props to a 4th year of free music with noble intentions.
phil
