...well, indirectly.... ...in another thread... One Night Only! "Four Bands You're Not Likely to See Play Together Every Weekend!" Thurs. May 27th, 9:30 pm - Oldfields on High - $5.00 Braille Drivers (Morgantown WVA) - Big guitars and big hooks. Red Dahlia (Columbus/Athens) - Keyboards and glasses; the thinking fan's rock band. The Emergency (Morgantown WVA) - See this band. Seriously. They've channeled Oasis, GBV and The Beatles through the no-nonsense power-trio blender. Collectively, our new favorite band. The Patsys (Summit St.) - What did we finally decide about playing last? Are we headlining or are we fucked? Stick around and find out. |

Most of you* missed out on the last Bourbon Street Bash (to be fair, the Means were playing Red 16) but this show is tailor-made for the donewaiting crowd. 9:30pm?!? It's practically a matinee! Just think, you can catch DW faves Red Dahlia and soon-to-be DW faves and still be home in time for Night Line! *Stephen Slaybaugh, I'm looking in your direction... **click for mp3s |

Yes. The Emergency were fantastic. I picked up a disc. After hearing their live set I shall abruptly write: RIYL Ted Leo, The Dismemberment Plan and The Monkees. I enjoyed the Patsy's too. They made me want to drink Blatz out of a little glass, pony bottle. RE: very classic, blue collar, hooky ruh-ock. I heard the riff from Living Loving Maid in the first song. I missed the Braille Drivers and Red Dahlia because I was at Midgard watching the Stepfords. Fucking eh, that is a great little, all ages hut. I wish that I would have made it up there a few more times before the owner decided to stop having shows (apparently somewhat due to some bullshit the underage regulars were pulling on nearby businesses, etc). Midgard is/was cool. Me rikey. |

Thanks to everyone who stuck it out last night. Four bands on a Thursday night was a pretty tall order. Never have so many rocked so hard for so few. |
