MadLab Theater offers Roulette one-act series
Local underground theater Mad Lab gets into the swing of spring this May with it's annual Theater Roulette series, featuring consecutive nights of cutting edge one act plays. Every weekend (Thurs./Fri./Sat.) in May the theater will show 3-4 one act plays each night. This year's Roulette will feature "I Was Never Moved By The Lord", a play by local musician/writer Lizard McGee that focuses in on an evening at an Appalachian church service gone awry. Theater Roulette is always an audience favorite featuring $8 tix with a sliding ticket scale.

I Was Never Moved By The Lord shows at 8pm on the following nights:

Friday May 7th (opening night)
Thursday, May 13th
Sat., May 22nd
Friday, May 28th
Sat., May 29th @ 4pm

If'n you don't know, MadLab is at 105 N. Grant, at the corner of Grant and Long. Check 'em out at http://www.madlab.net . Theater Roulette will showcase several amazing plays by local playwrights, for a full schedule or more info. please contact Mad Lab.

2. The premier of local film "Unknown Mysteries"
Also this weekend ("at an undisclosed date/time"), There will be a private screening of the new local movie "Unknown Mysteries"- which is a mockumentary investigating the depths of the paranormal. This indie film was written and directed by Cowtown hipster Jake Saint ( late of the bands Clay and Flipping Hades) and features performances by many local art regulars and members of the bands Townsmen, Earwig, The Bygones and many, many more. With MadLab's limited seating, this will be a private screening for Cast & Crew from the film. The film has been submitted to several festivals and a proper public showing is in the works with a local theater. please contact : Jake_Wyckoff@URSCorp.com for more info.

3. Earwig & The Sure Things
...to cap off the weekend, Earwig is playing at Larry's ( North High Street) on Saturday May 8th as an aftershow party for both "I Was Never Moved By The Lord" and "Unsolved Mysteries". Everyone is invited to this one, so come on down and mix it up at the mix down at Larry's with Earwig and The Sure Things

That looks super neat. Do you just buy tickets at the door or can you get them beforehand?

No shit? That's super cool. I'll have to check this out. Where do we buy tickets and how much are they? What's the crowd capacity?

Probably the best way to go is just to show up and get tix at the door at Mad Lab (they may sell them there in advance too, for other nights.).
I think that Mad Lab will probably hold 150+ people, it's really nice, if a little on the small side. They do sell some refreshments.
Friday night starts at 8pm, so just show up 15min. or so early to get good seats. Tix are $8 and on a sliding scale.
I hope that you guys get to go. I'm anxious to hear what people think of the play. thanx

Things got moved around in the studio, and right now meeting the June 11 release deadline takes priority; so unfortunately we won't be there this Friday. However, I will definitely be at the Thursday, May 13th show.

Break a leg!

The play went really, really well. The folks at MadLab do a hell of a job and the other two plays Friday night were hilarious (IWNMBTL is a more "serious" play). The audience was great. They had about 70 people there and the response was very good.
And then afterwards Jake Saint showed his new indie film "Unknown Mysteries" (a faux documentary/comedy about the paranormal) and there was sort of a cast party, which went stellar as well.
I hope that he can swing his film into a festival or two or another local showing so that more people can get a chance to see it. There are a lot of locals featured in it.
I Was Never Moved By The Lord
will be running every weekend for the month of May.
