Arthur Yoria from Houston, Texas will be Tim Easton's special guest this Thursday night (April 22) at Andyman's Treehouse.

I first was turned on to Arthur by Houston Calling's David Cobb. David wound up interviewing Arthur and you can read that interview here. I had a chance to check him out at SXSW and he was really great -- kind of a mix of Pete Yorn, Elvis Costello, Mike Viola, Jeff Buckley, The Last Hotel (yeah, gotta throw in the local band).

Check out full-length songs and samples here: http://www.arthuryoria.com/Music.htm

Arthur really is a talented guy -- one of the few who is breaking out of the city and going around the world playing.

Enjoy the show and let me know how it goes.

Has anybody listened to any of Arthur's music yet? Here are my three favorite songs. The first one, "I'll Be Here Awake" is the full-length MP3. The other two are minute-and-a-half samples.

"I'll Be Here Awake" (MP3)

"Sleep is on the Way" (MP3)

"Sevilla" (MP3)

Also, here are some excerpts from a review on Pop Bang Radio ...

"The CD went on, Marlene and Ryan asked----"WHO is this?!". Always a very good sign. Yoria arrives out, it appears, nowhere ... Fans of Rooney, Brendon Benson, Mood Elevator please listen up ... This album is every bit as good as the latest releases by these mentioned bands. Fat, meaty, hooks, varied songwriting, rich production qualities, and smoothly delivered guitar lines that slice and rip the jugular ... In its more carefully crafted areas, "I'll Be Here Awake" reminds one of Michael Penn. But, mostly this a heavy-ish, strongly melodic, rocking march of pumping power pop that could have been placed on a major label just as easily on this web site ... It continually avoids the predictable and has just the right amount of unusual twists and turns to bring a fresh debut into focus and into living rooms for Not Lamers. Grade: A.

Arthur put on a really good show. He plays solo but has a sampler that he's programmed all the drums and bass parts of his songs into so while you're watching a solo show, you're hearing a full band.
