I first was turned on to Arthur by David Cobb. David wound up interviewing Arthur and you can read that interview . I had a chance to check him out at SXSW and he was really great -- kind of a mix of Pete Yorn, Elvis Costello, Mike Viola, Jeff Buckley, The Last Hotel (yeah, gotta throw in the local band).

In its more carefully crafted areas, "I'll Be Here Awake" reminds one of Michael Penn. But, mostly this a heavy-ish, strongly melodic, rocking march of pumping power pop that could have been placed on a major label just as easily on this web site ... It continually avoids the predictable and has just the right amount of unusual twists and turns to bring a fresh debut into focus and into living rooms for Not Lamers. Grade: A.
