Friends of Old 3C: As promised in Winter 2009, Old 3C has some new releases to announce, which are expected to be available in Summer and Autumn. First will be the free digital download "single" by Columbus' The Beatdowns -- "Disconnected Girl" paired with "Away From The Crowd." The Beatdowns include members of Columbus fixtures The Sovines, Great Plains, and The Patsys, so you know they're worth your while. A love of PBR and a fondness for British shoes says it all, so please check them out at --
Second is the full-length release (limited edition vinyl, on-demand CD, digital download) from The Mealworms, a Kyle Siegrist and Matt Duckworth ragged-but-right recording project where they're ably-assisted by a variety of Columbus music-types. The boys have been involved in various bands over the years, and Kyle is, of course, owner of local record store institution Lost Weekend, where you'll find Old 3C releases for sale. Have a look at --
Third is a reissue (on-demand CD, digital download) of the long-lost classic mid-80s Columbus release "Counting Fifty Problems" by Bob Robinson's and Paul Nini's Houshearts. Originally issued on vinyl, it's long out of print, and somewhat of a rarity in the collector world. Look for all seven of the original tracks to be included, but plumped-up with some rarely-heard live tracks. There's another whole full-length's worth of material to get to someday as well, but this will have to do for now. More information can be had at --
Finally, we're also hard at work on a Great Plains DVD featuring video footage spanning from the early-80s to the very recent past. Excerpts from performances on the long-gone All-American Cablevision network to last year's Parking Lot Blow-Out will be included. Look for a very small-edition DVD release followed by wide-availability in the video download world. This project is being put together by our old friend and seasoned video-professional Eddie Blau, who you can learn more about at --
