Fears for Fats Domino and Alex Chilton

Los Angeles: Several leading New Orleans musicians, including Fats Domino, one of the great figures of Louisiana rhythm and blues, are unaccounted for in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Domino, 77, beloved for his boogie-woogie piano style and such hits as Ain't That a Shame, Walking to New Orleans and Blueberry Hill, was apparently staying with his wife and daughter in his New Orleans house.
His manager, Al Embry, said he spoke to Domino by telephone twice on Sunday, trying to persuade the singer to evacuate, but the musician insisted he was "going to try to ride out" the storm at home. After the flood hit, Mr Embry was unable to reach the musician.
Domino lives in New Orleans' ninth ward, which Mr Embry said was believed to be under water. He said he had received reports that Domino "might have been picked up on Tuesday night" and that he had been seen trying to flag down a boat near his house, but those accounts could not be confirmed.

Karen Domino White, one of his daughters, said on Thursday a photo of a man being rescued from the flood was her father. Ms White saw a New Orleans Times-Picayune photograph of her father being taken from a boat by rescuers, but said she did not know her father's current whereabouts.
The rock singer and guitarist Alex Chilton, 54, of the recently reunited band Big Star, was listed on the missing persons page of
http://www.nola.com, the Times-Picayune's website, on Thursday. He remained at home in New Orleans during the storm, said a spokeswoman for his record label, Rykodisc, and has not been heard from since the flooding began.
The website for Rebirth Brass Band, another New Orleans group, Thursday posted a list of musicians of various brass bands who had not been heard from.
