Deadline Records must be owned by some former '80s metal dude. They've put out CDs by most (all?) of the bands on this CD. The thing is, all of these are actually "updated" versions of the songs (since the artists more than likely don't own the rights to the originals) and some of the songs are live versions (the singers don't hit the high notes like they did back in '89).

I picked it up at the library today at lunch so, for free, it's a good listen but I'd never spend a dime on it. (I have all of the originals anyway).

this is a really cool station and i've discovered quite a few new (to me at least) bands through it.

Local H - Here Comes the Zoo

In preparation for tonight's show. I haven't seen the band play live in a few years (I've never seen them with their not-so-new drummer Brian St.Clair, formerly of Triple Fast Action) so I'm really looking forward to the show tonight.

Stabbing Westward - Essential Stabbing Westward

I went through a HUGE Stabbing Westward phase when they first started. A friend of mine worked for Sony and got to know the band pretty well. I used to tag along with him when he'd go see them play live (we saw them play with -- not all at the same time -- Primal Scream, Rage Against the Machine, Quicksand, The The, Depeche Mode, and others).

This CD pretty much is a "greatest hits" package. It probably has something to do with the band having to fulfill a contract even though Sony dropped them. The band has broken up.

Personally, I think Linkin Park sounds like Stabbing Westward (with some 311-style rapping tossed in).
