ahhh, now this i like, also picked up Dirty Three (apparently self titled) at the library today, and i'm about 10 mintues in and enjoying it immensely and the kids (3 and 5) are dancing around like freaks.

Hey, Greenhorn, "Essence" is a good CD but if you want Lucinda Williams' best, pick up "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road". She actually has a brand new one that I've read very average reviews on. Saw her live at the Great Southern Theatre a few years ago and she was very good (Kasey Chambers opened!).

i saw that show too. one of my favorites of recent memory. i think essence is an amazing record. i envy the wind might be her best song, ever, and there are no duds on that record. it doesn't rock like car wheels but it has a very blue, very dusty, summer afternoon vibe.

i also liked the track by the black watch but you're right. there isn't much of note elsewhere. schlock!

i saw a mooney suzuki video a little while ago on much music for a song that was titled something about a "young man". it was ok. that singer dude is playing a serious lou reed card. sounded like the turks except not as good. how are their record(s)?

"Track Rabbits" off of "Mouthfuls"

The Fruit Bats are playing with Moviola at The Factory on May 17 (I think). The singer has played with Califone in the past. Really good Wilco, Beachwood Sparks, etc. style of alt.country with a certain experimental side.
