It's Friday. It's been a shitty week at work (make that, a shitty few months) ... thus, I've been listening to the "Natural Born Killers" soundtrack CD this afternoon. If I can't go around punching things and throwing my computer out the window, at least I can fantasize as I listen to L7, Nine Inch Nails, etc.

the new Califone, "quicksand/rattlesnakes."

it's not as easy for me to love this one as it has been for me to love some of the other Califone stuff, and earlier Red Red Meat, especially, "Bunny Get s Paid." but, i think, i will love this one eventually. at least, i'm planning on it. hoping for it.

Rob, i remember you telling me you didn't know Red Red Meat. if that's still the case, i recommend checking out "Bunny Gets Paid." doooooooo it. and then move right on to Califone.

I really like this ... it rocks in that Samiam "we're a melodic rock band that grew up listening to Bad Religion and the Goo Goo Dolls but we hang out the punk rock crowd" kind of way.

Brady Brock - Warm American Sweater

At times he reminds me of Elliott Smith. At times he reminds me of Billy Corgan. I guess that means his music is somewhere in between, not necessarily acoustic ballads but not rock numbers either.

sebadoh - harmacy

despite the uncontested brilliance of "brand new love" and "soul on fire", neither of which are on this record, i think this one's my favorite. consistent. great songs. 19 tracks. even "weed against speed' is kinda funny. "open-ended" is gorgeous.
