From Yahoo news: Man Claims Rolling Rock Stole Town Fair Idea Thu Mar 6, 6:46 PM ET A local restaurateur is suing the makers of Rolling Rock beer, claiming that he came up with the concept of an annual concert bearing the drink's name. The Rolling Rock Town Fair, an outdoor alternative rock show, debuted in August 2000 at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Mount Pleasant. As many as 35,000 fans have attended each year. Robert Halula, of Latrobe, said he pitched the idea to Latrobe Brewing Co. officials in 1998, but he said the brewery and its parent company, Labatt USA, took the concept and ran with it. Halula said his company received a $15,000 management fee and an agreement to provide concessions at the show. By 2001, Halula said he was only given two food booths far from the main concert area. Last year, he said he was not allowed to be a vendor at all. Halula is suing for his claimed losses of $66,000 and unspecified damages. A Labatt USA spokeswoman said the breweries had not seen the lawsuit and could not comment on it. This summer, the concert will be held at Heinz Field. |
