I know a shit-ton of you were there. So what did you think? I had fears about how they'd translate to a large venue, but those were largely put to rest. In my head, I picture them as largely a morose, mumbling collection of moody bastards, but last night they showed that they can in fact be a bit lively.

I found the show very boring. I was seated way in the back and whatever energy they had didn't carry back there. I have no idea why 1/3 of the lawn area was closed. The friends I went with were pretty much in agreement, although they said the show probably would have been better in a smaller venue.

I thought it was great although I was in the pit about 30 feet away so the energy did carry that far. I'm guessing the lawn was roped off because not many tickets were sold? Maybe they were filming and didn't want the crowd to look sparse? There was even plenty of personal space in the pit. "England" was the highlight for me, probably my favorite song of the year.

I was one of three people in the city who knew nothing of The National but got a free ticket at the last minute and decided to go. I'm a big fan of The Antlers and wanted to hear some of the new stuff I'd heard they were playing these days, and I was really curious about The National because I'd heard so many people talk about them.

I was bored. They sounded fine and all (from stage left in the pit), I just wasn't feeling it. I don't know if it was just my mood or what, but after the opener (which I really liked) it wasn't doing it for me. I bailed about five songs in when I remembered that the beer in my fridge was cheaper than the LC's mega cups.
