for those who missed it... some highlights...
EXTREMELY
hot in the summit. post said the AC was broke.
i missed the first two bands. whoops. considering my friend's husband was the drummer in one of em.
the third band.. who i still don't know by name was pretty good. the guy/girl singing wasn't great, but... i honestly still don't know what gender he/she was? big like a dude, but i think he/she was female? eh.. oh.. and the music was decent. fast and loud metal. they were the tour opener. whoever the sound guy was did eh.. a mediocre job.
by the time MW came on, the crowd was already overheated. the kids couldn't get momentum after already losing 5 pounds in the sweat pool sauna. they should advertise at health clubs seriously. i lost weight and i just stood to the side the whole time.
the band was great. i must say, i don't know all the songs by name but recognized most. they indeed shreaded.
favorite line from singer: "why should i get a real job when i can sing about sharks?"
fave fan stuff: guys climbing atop the PA stack and leaping off. that was fucking nuts. the club took exception though and started throwing people out for doing so. i thought that was kinda lame cause some sort of warning shot should've been fired first. dude just started tossing people out the back door.
fave injury: dude standing back by the bar near me with a face full of blood.. also covering his arm and spilling onto the floor. i was told later he was okay...whew. that was very metal.
fave weird moment: couple of greasy metalheads in leather jackets/jean jackets intensely watching MLS soccer game between salt lake and chicago.
this kind of ties with someone leaving free DVD's all over the place. i have yet to watch it, but i'm curious. especially considering the music and people there. the crowd was mostly young metal guys with various piercings and tats. no surprise there.
good time and glad i was off work on friday.
