So I got a copy of this this week and sat up last night listening to the Iggy and Bowie mixes back and forth. There really is a world of difference. I can't decide which I like better. I still lean towards the Iggy mix, but you can hear things in the Bowie mix that are totally buried in Iggy's mix.

deep inside, i really, genuinely do hope this rethink of the bowie mix turns out to be my favorite. i really do.
but i doubt it.

as much as that iggy mix doesn't sound like an album from '73 as much as it does an album from '93, it still sounds closer to how i want it to sound, and how i want it to make me feel.

The funny things is how quiet the Bowie mix still is even after the remaster. That Iggy mix is one of the loudest cds ever. The Iggy mix has way more balls, but there are little things in the Bowie mix that stood out. There's a cool little guitar run in the chorus of Search & Destroy that I had never heard before.

This bootleg was recorded live at the Agora Ballroom, Columbus, Ohio - 30th March 1977. The sound qualitiy is great.

Opening on the 1st March 1977, the Idiot World Tour visited three countries and produced of twenty-nine performances. The band consisted of: Iggy Pop (vocals), David Bowie (keyboards and backing vocals), Ricky Gardiner (guitar), Tony Sales (bass) and Hunt Sales (drums) Stacey Heydon (Guitar) and Scott Thurston (Piano, guitar, harmonica & synthesizer). The UK Punk band The Vibrators supported Iggy for the six gigs in England. In the USA and Canada, Blondie supported from the 13th March onwards.

Does anybody know anything about US tour dates? The band website shows dates up thru mid-August in UK and Europe. Fuck, if all that has to happen before they even get here, I have doubts they will even make it that far before something stupid happens. It IS the Stooges after all. Hope I am wrong, we'll see. I missed seeing Ronnie...

dude, i was literally spitting distance from ron at the detroit gig of the 1st batch of reunion shows (actually the show that became the creem iggy&thestooges live dvd) and watching him that up close, playing almost every single song from the 1st two albums was better than damn near anything i've ever seen . . .
