Saturday kicks off in the woods with Yes Giantess. A fun 4 piece with, a few lap tops thrown in. Foot tapping stuff also, providing the quote of the weekend. Something along the lines of - We are the coolest kids in America because we are the only ones that dig Kylie, as they launched into a Kylie cover!
Band of Skulls were a power trio of Bluesy Rockers and great with it. Back then to the Uncut tent for Marnie Stern who is hailed in some quarters as the greatest female guitarist around. She certainly seemed capable although the songs and performance was less than thrilling for me. Next the delightful St.Vincent, again the set was just far too short but she produced some excellent songs and a very engaging performance this afternoon.
Broken Records hit the Main Stage after last year’s Sunrise stage performance and don’t seem overawed in the least. A great up coming band of quality musicians. Airborne Toxic Event got better as they went along but after Emmy the Great, my next highlight was Camera Obsura in the Uncut tent.. Understated charm in their songs and performance … an excellent band.
Whites Lies pumped out the album but I guess for them Latitude was a bit of a come down after the tremendous performance at T in the Park the previous weekend. Always excellent we now await the next album.
Doves drew one of the biggest crowds to the Obelisk Arena of the weekend but my headliner tonight was a spirited, career spanning, onslaught of a set from Spiritualized in the Uncut tent, superb!
