I rarely post opinion, but I totally agree,

Was the show as tedious as it seemed? Good thing I didn't go I guess, I spend enough time being the hater

no, it was worth going to, because (1) it was free (2) records were nominally cheaper (3) it supported the local record store (4) it was the dude from Smog who wrote such songs as "Dress Sexy At My Funeral" and "Ex-Con" and named albums Dongs of Sevotion and 'Neath the Puke Tree, and his voice is fuckin great and i've never seen him live and it was all new music pretty much and he was solo and... why the fuck not take 35 minutes out of your evening? pretty sure nobody cried but a little baby.

I watched the videos, and it seemed really tedious and just isn't my thing, but that being said, in stores are usually pretty fun and social.

Dongs of Sevotion? really?

No I was the one that was more awkward than you. My friend and I spoke with you about how you should get uncomfortably close to Bill Callahan.

I like this cat, and would have liked to see this show.

I've had a few weeks to sit with it and am pretty sure on my 1-to-1,000,000 scale, this mug is a solid 963,346.5

I finally listened to the new record a bunch of times at work this week, and it is really, really good. I didn't much care for that Woke on a Whaleheart record that he released last year (?), so I'm relieved that this one is as good as it is. All of the arrangements add tremendously to the appeal of the songs. Some of the solo versions at Used Kids were a tad bit boring...

Today the NPR Music podcaster/blogger delegation posted a video of Bill playing three songs as part of their tiny desk series. In an even tighter space than the Used Kids stage, he manages to squeeze a four-piece backing band with additional guitar, strings, and snare drum. It sounds really good.
